The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons as a young performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy category. These traits were natural for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin in Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was an athletic natural and enjoyed playing tough sporting games. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack to act. That was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could offer. In her 14th year, she joined at the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying the classical theater and operatic singing.
