The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons as a young performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy category. Maureen was an athletic natural and enjoyed playing tough sporting games. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack to act. That was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could offer. In her 14th year, she joined at the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying the classical theater and operatic singing.
